My biggest pet peeve in photogrphy of any kind is when your photos are off kilter. They are not straight and off. I see these flaws with a lot of mobile photographers. It really bugs me when beginners will say, “I don’t need to go to school to be a photographer.” They can’t see the flaws in their own photographs. Their photos are not lined up properly. My eyes go straight to the flaws. Even with me I have trouble with taking straight/even photos, especially with hand held shots. I’ll have to use SKEW to line up my photo and crop them. I don’t like to crop photos because you loose resolution slicing up your photos.
There was an app that came out two years ago called LVL CAM to fix a lot of these problems. I had the app when it first came out but never used it. I came across it again looking through AppShopperr. I decided to put the app back on and test it out for real. then do a write up about it because there are no real reviewss for LVL CAM. There is this one by Graeme Nelson but it doesn’t say a whole lot.
How it works they use a gyroscope in your iPhone to help you take perfectly level photos. It also will auto snap your photos for you when they are lined up properly. How you know when the photo is lined up is when the level turns GREEN.
This is one of my sample shot taken with LVL CAM with my iPhone 6 plus.
Here is a straight down shot with my iPhone 6 plus. Overall it’s a great app but it needs updating with all the new manual controls on the iPhone 6/6plus. I would also like aspect ratio shooting to go along with this app. If you have this app, please write a review so we can get the added tools and improvements with LVL CAM. The app sells for $.99 in the App Store and works with iOS 8. If you have any questions about this blog post, please leave comments or email me firstname.lastname@example.org. Have a good day and see you soon !!!
