Today I’m going to share an artist who loves to d.a.n.c.e. She goes by Juta Jazz and has an incredible self portrait series. These photos are really amazing because you don’t see them as self portraits. You get lost in the dance and movements that are captured in this photo series.

Juta’s Bio: I’m in Cyprus and based as a Lithuanian iPhoneographer. I use the artistic name Juta Jazz. My travel to mobile photography start before two years ago – when I got my iPhone and found in EyeEm web page NEM group. There I met amazing artists. Their works influencing and inspires me until today.
I studied at Vilnius M.K.Čiurlionis school of arts in Lithuania – got my ballet artist degree and movement always following my works.

How did you come up with your series “D.A.N.C.E. ?”

I found an invitation of Empty Spaces Project art gallery in Putnam to a digital exhibition with the theme “dance” and started working on this project. That is how the D.A.N.C.E. series came together.

What does D.A.N.C.E. stands for ?

This body of work and common understanding of dance for me is something more than the simple word, “dance” – so I made the word into an acronym and it stands for – Different Altitude of Navigating Certain Emotions.

Do you do a lot of self portrait work ?

Most of my body of works are self portraits. Together with my busy every day schedule for my work, family and children. I found myself model to be the best suitable model for me – she always agree with my ideas for shooting, and she is always follow my schedule 😉 !!!
