Combo Apps/DCkina Mobile Telephoto Lenses

Telephoto 9x Demo

Today I’m going to be reviewing mobile telephoto lenses. People have asked me, “what do I really think of these lenses ?” “Are they worth the money ?” “Should I get them ?” “What’s the photo quality like ?” First I’m going to show you what they look like. Then I’ll go into detail in how to use them properly. Last I’ll give you my formal opinions on them and recommendations. The top two photos were taken with 9x Telephoto Lens from DCkina. The shots were hand held and I use PureShot camera app.

DCkina Telephoto 9x Lens

This is a 9x Telephoto mobile lens. The lens is compatible with just about any smartphones and tablets on the market. It has aluminium casing with real optical glass elements. The threading is 17mm, angle view is 12 degrees, minimum focus distance is 3 meters (9 ft) and manual focus. This lens is heavy compared to other mobile lenses. It’s very well constructed with a solid build. There are two lens caps for the front and the back of this lens.

12x Telephoto Lens

This is a 12x Telephoto mobile lens. Just like the 9x, it’s compatible to just about any smartphone and tablets. It has has aluminium casing with real optical glass elements, manual focus, minimum focus distance 3 meters (9 ft), and 17mm threading. The differences are 15 degree of wide angle and aluminium tripod ring with screw to hold in place. Not shown are two lens caps for the front and the back of the lens. Again it’s heavier than most mobile lenses with a solid build.

12x Telephoto Demo – 1 – I took these photo on a tripod using ProCamera 7. I had trouble with the telephotos lenses and ProCamera 7 trying to work together. The auto and manual focus kept fighting with each other. I used a cable shutter release to snap the photo.

12x Telephoto demo – 2 – I took these photos with PureShot. These sets of photos are clearer and sharper. I didn’t have to fight with auto and manual focus with the app either. They seem to sync perfectly together. Again, I used a cable shutter release.

Airplane

There are some chromatic aberrations but not enough to both me. I can take square photos with these lenses and crop out some of the chromatic aberrations. These lenses are doable for me to try and take photos during a full moon. However, it’s close to impossible to take airplane mobile photos with these lenses because of the manual focus and the planes flying by so quickly.

If you plan to buy these lenses, I highly recommend a heave and sturdy tripod to mount these lenses. Also invest in a cable shutter release or Bluetooth shutter remote. Test your photos using different apps to see which app work best with the auto and manual focus. These lenses are fixed and not zoom lenses.
