Project 365 Week 3

Purity 15/365

Another week has gone by, so a new batch of edits are going up on display. Last week I ended with a demonic image, so I’m going to start off with some soft and pure. “Purity” is something we can always some back to start fresh. You’re totally cleansed away your demons and you feel light and soft. Getting rid of 90% of my things has giving me some kind of purity to start fresh. All those things I used to have just was weighing me down and reminders of some bad things that would haunt me form time to time. Now the things are gone and I have no excuses to hold onto anything.

Purity and the apps used were, ProCamera 7, Motion-Effect, PicFrame, Waterlogue, InstaFusion, Tangled FX and Photo Forge 2 (n/a).

The Heart Burns 16/365

This image is about a song that runs in my head a lot called “You Are A Tourist” by Death cab For Cutie. You can red the lyrics and see why “The Heart Burns” inside of me. I know the place where I can call home…I just have to get there somehow.

“You Are A Tourist”

This fire grows higher
This fire grows higher
This fire grows higher
This fire grows higher

When there’s a burning in your heart
An endless yearning in your heart
Build it bigger than the sun
Let it grow, let it grow
When there’s a burning in your heart
Don’t be alarmed

This fire grows higher

When there’s a doubt within your mind
Because you’re thinking all the time
Framing rights into wrongs
Move along, move along
When there’s a doubt within your mind

When there’s a burning in your heart
And you think it’ll burst apart
Or there’s nothing to feel
Save the tears, save the tears
When there’s a burning in your heart

And if you feel just like a tourist in the city you were born
Then it’s time to go
And define your destination
There’s so many different places to call home
Because when you find yourself the villain in the story you have written
It’s plain to see
That sometimes the best intentions are in need of redemptions
Would you agree?
If so please show me

This fire grows higher
When there’s a burning in your heart

The Heart Burns and the apps used were, ProCamera 7, Dynamic Light, InstaFusion, Fragment, Tangled FX, Glaze and DXP.

Please Elaborate 17/365

This next image is more on the whimsical surreal side. “Please Elaborate” the details is about the details I will go through in editing an image or writing the blog posts. I do things so elaborately that I end up having to many things open in my life. It’s kind of nice that I’m not working because I am able to be more focused on my projects and reach some kind of goal in finishing them. It’s like my friend Richard told me. He quotes: “You are correct in that the MAGIC of photography is a reflection of the photographer, not the tools. And that most artists create there best work when going through hard times.” Richard lives on the other side of the world, in a land down under. We are both really different but at the time very much sync with each other when it comes to photography. So Project 365 is about bring out my best work, since I didn’t really do anything that creative at the start of last year. I would go through these creative spurts and then just not do anything for awhile. Project 365 will keep me consistent and push my limits.

Please Elaborate and the apps used were, ProCamera 7, InsatFusion, iColorama S, Juxtaposer, Pic Grunger and Photo Forge 2 (n/a).

Paths Unknown 18/365

After quitting my job and going to London didn’t work out, I was left with “Paths Unknown” and lots of uncertainty. The only thing I am sure of is not going back to Target. I know I can’t go back there because if I do I know I’ll die there. To this day I’m still unsure of what I’m going to do with myself or where to go to look for guidance. I just throw it up in the air and live in this surreal moment on borrowed time. The only things that keep me going are the kids, taking photos, writing blog posts and building relationships with people. Doing those things are keeping me sane and not go into some crazy depression, like I did almost 20 years ago. Everyone keeps telling me something good will happen and just keep doing what I’m doing…

Paths Unknown and the apps used were, ProCamera 7, InstaFusion, Juxtaposer, PicBoost, LoryStripes, PicFx and Alien Sky.

Aeroplanes or Airplanes 19/365

I grew up in Lemon Grove for good part of my life and seen lots of changes that has happened over the years in this town. One thing that hasn’t changed are the “Aeroplanes or Airplanes” that fly over into San Diego International Airport a.k.a. “Lindbergh Field”. It’s something I’ve grown up with since I could remember. You could say it’s the only constant and certain thing in my life. I watch the planes fly over and Vida does too sometimes with me. When we look at the planes and we make wishes. My wish is to be on the plane and flying out of San Diego to some place I call home.

Aeroplanes or Airplanes and the apps used were, ProCamera (n/a), PicFrame, LoryStripes, Picfx and Snapseed.

The World According to Imagination and Creativity 20/365

Surreal and full of color is how I dream at night. Nothing is ever literal, “The World According to Imagination and Creativity” is no exception to the rules. Some people would disagree with me. But I know in order to be the exception to the rules, you have to learn and understand the rules first. Rules are what I like to call judgement calls. After you learn the rules you can make those calls and break them. People tend to forget you need to learn the fundamentals, appreciate them and master them. That’s the why when I’ve run out of ideas and/or have a creative block of some kind. I will go back to the basic fundamentals. Because we get lost when we keep adding onto things we learn and sometimes my edits will just look like a “HOT MESS” !!! Vida is my reminder of the world according to imagination and creativity. She’s only 5 but can see the world that I grew out of and bring back my inner Peter Pan so I come up with creative edits. Now that I look back, I understand what the purpose and true nature of Bhavika being there for me and what she brought out in me.

The World According to Imagination and Creativity and the apps used were, ProCamera (n/a), Percolator, Tiny Planets, Rays, Dynamic Light, Glaze, Photo Forge 2 (n/a), Juxtaposer and DistressedFX.

Interconnections of Two Worlds 21/365

In our life time we live in two realities, the world where we are awake and the world where we sleep. We are in a constant “Interconnections of Two Worlds” of conscientiousness and unconsciousness. The image is about being in that constant state of dual realities. It about existing and not existing…black and white and so fourth. We can’t have one without the other, so we have to find the balance in order to co-exist. Life is a double edge sword where we have to learn to walk on the blade or down the middle so we don’t fall off or get cut. I hope you enjoyed the story behind the edits and see you next week for another installment.

Interconnections of Two Worlds and the apps used were, ProCamera (n/a), Snapseed, Decim8 and InstaShake.
