Happy New Year !!! Today marks the first official week that has passed in 2014, I was asked and invited to a group on Facebook called Project 365 by Kim Peplinskie. Kim is a loyal reader, friend and mobile artist. I asked Kim if there was any theme. She said “no, it’s casual and do what you want.” I thought about it since this is my second 365 project. My first project was Hipstamatic 365, October 2010 – October 2011. I want to “Celebrate” each day in 2014 because this will be the year of real changes and positive things that will happen.
What the project taught me most was not matter what happens in your life to keep going with it and don’t stop. It’s like the British Mantra, “KEEP CALM and CARRY ON.” It’s about rediscoverying who you are as a person and Carry van Bruggen did a magnificent job of the old British Mantra. How will I rediscover myself and do this project a second time ? After seeing what Carry did with her self portrait series and was recommended try to attempt doing this. I decided to do a “Mind Exploration” edit a photo a day.
Last year I went through a lot of editing binges and other crazy things. Now watching Vida and Boyce, being “The Air Guitarist and Mosher” reminds me of how surreal it is to watch them and photograph them. I did something on a whim and put myself in limbo. One thing I did know I wasn’t happy where I was at in my life and was unhappy for a very long time. I know being in limbo is suppose to put you in the right path, is you choice to do it. I still have a lot of unfinished project and business that needs to be cleared up. Project 365 will set me on the right path.
Sometimes it’s best to hold my breathe and “Make A Wish”. Then just have faith in what gets blown in the air, sometimes what happens doesn’t always makes sense. I need to learn to let go and let it be for the time being. Since I have thousands of photos that have been stacking up and in need of editing. This was another good reason to edit a photo a day. It will also keep my editing app skills in tact and push me in my creative mobile art skills. The edits will depict the mood of the day, what’s going on my life and set me on the path I need to be on.
I have a lot of cracks in need of repair and closure is the best way to repair these “Schism”. If you want to follow the series and the my journey, I will only be showing these images on a few sites, Here (Combo Apps), Project 365 (Facebook Group), Instagram (@ashcroft54), Flickr and iPhone Art (ashcroft54).
Some of the images will be edited on my iPad or iPhone. This will be a very intriguing series that will really test my limits and an image diary. You will see a lot of Boyce and Vida in this series since they’re a huge part in my life at the moment. They’re the closest to me and to having my own kids. You can’t see them but they’re always there, “On The Flipside” of my life.
Each week I will post a blog of 7 images, I might write about them or not. It’s my life so that sets the tone of the project, but I like putting in the puns in the image titles in each section. So sit back and watch each day of my life unfolds in each image, this will be a rewarding project and a fantastic journey of self discovery for me “Look Closely”…see you each week until 2015 !!!
