The year in review of 2013. I wanted to to do one more blog post and do a recap of all the things that have happened to me this year. One was I quit my job at Target so I could go fix a problem that has been going on for a long time in London. That didn’t pan out well, so I’m stuck here. I know I didn’t want to go back to my job because I was really unhappy there. But one thing I didn’t stop doing was the blogging, I love the writing and sharing information with people from all parts of the world. The image up above is done with two apps, Phoenix Photo Editor and LensFX. LensFX is still in beta testing stages so it will be in the App Store soon.
It’s still in the works but, Adam Roberts is working diligently on Camerariffic. What we both learn is that are hangups with the iPhone 4S. It was the iPhone 4S that made a huge jump with the camera compare to the iPhone 4. It causing crashes with a lot of apps because the camera was too large and not enough RAM. The 8 megapixel camera is causing a lot of low memory issues, so therefore you get a lot of crashes when apps are running too long or processing your photo. We were going back and fourth yesterday with Camerariffic. Where, when and why it was crashing. I think Adam figure it out. But what I likes most talking and test with Adam was conversation and building a friendship with each other. After he figured out the problems with what was going on with the iPhone 4S, I passed on the information to Kyle Stewart who is struggling with the iPhone 4S with Pixology. He was pleased with the information and hopefully that will help him with his app too.
The things I did after quitting my job was pick myself up and try to put myself back together. Then I started to write to companies for sample products so I can start to write product reviews. It started with stylus because of a topic brought up in iPhone Art Studio Talk. Then I went on to other companies and other products. What did I learn about doing this is I have the ability to make a difference in how product review are written. There are a lot of poorly written review out in the blogging world. I might be small but I know that I’ve made a difference in how review will be written in the future.
Watching TED videos has helped me with my discovery of trying to figure things out for myself. One video did touch me and decided to contact Dr. Kate Stone and her company Novalia. After I watched Kate’s video a few times I Google her to find out more information about her. I read this interview she gave at Cambridge on Equality and Diversity. That’s when everything started to click and decided to email Kate. After the long drawn out email I sent Kate, I got a long email reply from her. I was totally surprise !!! We went back and fourth with emails. She saw my mobile art work and asked me if I wanted to use my art work to make Interactive Posters. So in the future I’m hoping to create my mobile art experiences onto an interactive poster…
I want to mentions is I’ve applied for a job position with Photojojo as Professional Friend-maker & Photojojo Evangelist. Why I decided to do this was I wasn’t looking for it. I know I need some kind of income to keep doing Combo Apps without an income of come kind this site is on shaky ground. I know I will not work for any retail store again. I don’t know if Photojojo will take me seriously but it’s worth a shot.
Then after I did my last review blog post of Tadaa SLR. I was checking out other reviews and tutorials for the app. What I found was one done with DPReview, I was curious and clicked on it. (“CLICK HERE”). After I read the review and the comments, I was really appalled with it and DPReview. I was going to see if I could contact them but instead I saw you could apply to be a writer for them. So guess what I did, I applied to be a writer for DPReview and told them you don’t bee a college degree to be a real writer for you website. I gave them two links, one was their review of Tadaa SLR and my review. They can decide from those two blog posts. I don’t expect I will hear from them. But what that blog post did for me is to loose all respect and my readership from their website.
Last thing I wanted to share was I sign up with myMoleskine Community and got the free Moleskine app. I was told the app is still buggy, if you’re having problems with the app I suggest you write a review to let them know. My blog posts are on the community page on my profile. I’ve written to Moleskine to see if I could do a product review with them. They have some products and always loved their journal books. I used to buy their books to write my notes and sketches in them. What I’m hoping is to write out my art project and other things I will be doing with Combo Apps and post them on the community wall. Even if they say no, that will not stop me from using the community wall for my future projects. I always have to look at that silver lining…
Here is Vida and she lost her first tooth yesterday, she was playing with her Nintendo 3DS XL (I still called them Gameboys). She said, “Tina I lost my tooth and I can’t find it !!!” Then she showed me and snapped the shot with Leme Cam Pro. What this taught me is you have to loose something in order to gain something and in this case it was Vida’s tooth. I lost something this year but I know in 2014 I gain something in return…Happy New Year and see you in 2014 !!!
The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.
Here’s an excerpt:
Madison Square Garden can seat 20,000 people for a concert. This blog was viewed about 69,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Madison Square Garden, it would take about 3 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
